Virginia Septic is a professional septic company that has proudly served the greater Washington D.C. metropolitan region since 1988. Virginia Septic has two convenient locations at 10805 Main Street, Suite 700, Fairfax, Virginia 22030 and 8331 W Main Street, Marshall, Virginia 20115. Cantrell Excavating was founded and operated for 30 years by Jack Cantrell. In 2019 Cantrell Excavating was acquired by Mark Smith of Soils, Inc.. The name was changed to Virginia Septic and Soils Inc and Virginia Septic became sister companies. We hold a Master Alternative Installer License, a Master Alternative Operators License, and a Class A Contractors License. We appreciate the opportunity to work with you on your important projects.

MARK SMITH

Our sister company Soils, Inc. was founded in 1988. We have successfully served our clients for over 28 years. It is our goal to continue to maintain our strong relationships with our valued clients and create new long lasting business relationships.

Markham (Mark) D. Smith is the owner and president of Soils, Inc., is dedicated to continuing the family tradition of providing quality work and exceptional customer service to our valued clients. Mark is a 3rd generation soil scientist who successfully works throughout the Washington Metropolitan Region. Mark graduated from North Carolina State University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy. He is a DPOR Licensed Authorized On-site Soil Evaluator (AOSE), DPOR Licensed Professional Soil Scientist (LPSS), and a DPOR Licensed Alternative Onsite Sewage System Operator (AOSSO). Mark works closely with state and local regulators to help improve our industry. He is a past board member of the Virginia On-site Wastewater Association (VOWRA), a current member and past board member of Virginia Association of Professional Soil Scientist (VAPSS), a current council member of the Northern Virginia Builders Association (NVBIA). Mark works with Fairfax County and the Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District preparing training classes to use soil morphology to estimate seasonal high water table when conducting storm water infiltration studies. Mark has worked with NVBIA to host the golf tournament which benefits Habitat for Humanity and Fauquier Family Shelter. As part of the work ethic for Soils, Inc, Mark believes highly in providing great customer service and performing quality work quickly.
